Elizabet Vukovic received her MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California. She specializes in children's book illustration, but enjoys experimenting with character design, concept art, fashion illustration, and decorative art. She currently resides in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She illustrates the Jasmine Toguchi series, including Jasmine Toguchi, Mochi Queen and Jasmine Toguchi, Super Sleuth.

Move over Ramona Quimby, there's a new feisty little sister on the pages! Jasmine Toguchi is dying to be a part of her family's traditional mochi-making event, but everyone tells her she's just not old enough yet. She'll show THEM! It was an absolute delight to read this early chapter book and see Jasmine's fierce determination to prove she IS old enough and IS strong enough and she CAN pound mochi even though she's a girl! There are beautiful black-and-white illustrations interspersed with the text, and the story is written in a perfect style and level for grades 1-3. I would highly recommend this as a grade read aloud in these grades with a mochi-making party when the book is finished - there is an easy-to-make recipe in the back!I can't wait to share this book with students in my library and read the rest of the books in the series!

An entertaining early / transitional chapter book. I highly recommend adding this series to your classroom. I enjoyed the diverse character and mix of Japanese culture.

This was adorable, fun and I learned so much. Now I'm excited to try Mochi! Can't wait to explore this series further.

Perfect realistic fiction series for 2nd grade+! I love Jasmine’s determination to accomplish her goal.

A great story for kids about a sweet and spunky girl. She has a loving family, and is respectful of her parents, but doesn't want to follow the traditional roles. She gently questions the way things are, learning and growing in the process. A fun, entertaining story for kids AND parents!

This is a great story! Jasmine is a wonderful main character and I'm looking forward to reading more books in the future. I'm buying it for my friend's child as well.
