Excellent overview of Talmud. This book gives a history of the Talmud, as well as underlying. concepts. It is illustrated by specific passages. Great introduction for people who want to know about the structure, history, and messages of the Talmud. It is not overwhelmng.

Excellent intro primer to the Talmud! It would have been helpful to have more examples, especially about the discussions of how various sages and rabbis came to same conclusions through different logic or different conclusions via the same logic.But an interesting introduction to the Talmud.

Disappointed! It's more a commentary on the parts of the Talmud.

This is as close as I have come to the real thing. The author does an excellent job of translating into layperson's language the insights one gains from scholarly study of the Talmud.

I love the way Rabbi Steinsaltz walks his reader through the pages of such rich history, such beautiful lore and meaningful tradition and makes it all living. I highly recommend the book for beginners who approach the topic of Rabbinic literature and related studies. Those who know Rabbinic literature and history already might be bored a bit. The book gets to be a bit philosophical but not too scholarly. It is fairly easy to understand and really should be read in one gulp. This way the information scattered in all the chapters would make sense. My only disappointment with the book, though the material is excellent, there are not sources listed, there are no detailed bibliographies. It is as if Rabbi Steinsaltz just wrote it all from memory one afternoon. May be it is just me but I crave sources and bibliographies on the information that interests me so much.

It was what I thought it would be do not think this will be the only book you will need to understand the Talmud

I bought this book to brush up on a lot of theory that I have forgotten. Although the book is older, the presentations are clear. From an organizational view it would help if the chapters were listed on the header of each page.

This is a thorough and well presented book. It starts with an introduction to crystals and quantum physics so it you get all the main tools to understand solid state physics. As a matter of fact the chapters on quantum physics are exceptional. True it's somewhat a summary of any quantum physics book but it's a very good one. I used it for a one term intensive course on both quantum physics and solid state physics angling towards semiconductor physics and transistors. The author provides concise and precise explanations plus all the mathematical progression. That's where it gets slightly cumbersome and the main reason I wouldn't recommend it for self study. You pretty much need to understand the reasoning behind those equations or you won't know what it's all about. As a reference book it's wonderful because everything is there. There's no other book that deals so well with the basics tools of quantum and semiconductor physics. My only complaint is that it lacks a final chapter on transistors(both bipolar and Mos would be appreciated) that would make it a truly phenomenal book.

If this is the same as the original Solid State and Semiconductor Physics by McKelvey, it is an excellent textbook from the 1960's which was once out of print. The other textbooks (usually for seniors or beginning graduate students of engineering who needed to learn modern physics for solid state and semiconductors, including an introduction to quantum mechanics) used generally did not explain the physics as well. Becauseof its age, you don't get explanations of many modern devices. But if you need to know the physics, the explanations are simply not given in other textbooks. And it doesn't cost as much as new textbooks. It is a textbook meant for serious university students, not self-study. If you want an easier introduction to quantum mechanics and more explanations of modern devices, I was going to suggest Streetman's Solid State Electronic Devices, but it costs as much as other current engineering texts--wow, the old editions didn't cost so much.

In a casual, conversational style, McFarlane covers events ranging in dates from the first game in 1875 to the Olympics of 2002. Roughly organized in chapters that feature stars, coaches, forwards as well as defensemen, some of these tales are about poor plays and hilarious gaffes while others are about amazing feats. For example, in 1942, Jackie Hamilton of the Toronto Maple Leafs was hip checked and sent flying into the air. His skate lodged in the wire net behind the goal and he was stuck upside down two feet off the ice. He continued dangling there while the game went on, until finally the referee blew his whistle and Jackie's teammates came to pry him loose. There is a mere mention of women players. McFarlane is guilty of some editorializing, but for the most part the book consists of anecdote after anecdote of memorable plays. The black and white of the pages appears visually boring except for the sprinkling of Nease's well-drawn cartoons. Coach McKeefery did an incredible job with this daily devotional style book for athletes and coaches. For me personally being able to hear what other coaches share with their teams is priceless. I know the athletes receiving these stories will positively impact them throughout their athletic career as well as into their personal and professional lives. The role as a strength coach is diverse and requires time, trust, and patience. I truly believe this book can help bridge those characteristics. The titles are intriguing and you want to keep reading because there is such a great variety of lessons. I highly recommend any coach to get this book!

There are many reasons why I am enjoying this much needed, easily to read, wonderful collaboration of wisdom from so many successful coaches in the field..... but here is my main reason:*You should never stop learning. This book will teach even the veteran coaches in the field. Some times you might have trouble finding the right words, story or scenario to get your point across. I now have at my fingertips an excellent source to bring home a point, motivate the disinterest individuals, or just help a young athlete conquer this thing called life.Hats off to Ron and everyone who contributed to this masterpiece.

How valuable would it be to listen to the stories of some of the most successful strength coaches in the world? You'd have enough stories to tell for years. That's exactly what this book does - it gives you stories to use in just about any situation so you can illustrate an important point with a relevant story. Ron McKeefery has brought together an incredible group of coaches to create one of the most useful coaching (and storytelling) resources even put into print. One of the best ideas I've seen in years.

Coach McKeefrey has knocked it out of the park again with this book. His book CEO of a Strength Coach was fantastic and this one is no slouch. This book delivers some amazing stories that the best coaches have delivered to their athletes. From motivation to effort given, there are a ton of stories any coach could use to help reach their players or fellow coaches. The key feature that I love the most are the Huddles. They even have these Huddle questions for Athletes and Coaches. In the Huddle, the questions posed by the story teller help you take the story one step further and implement its ideas in with your athletes and/or coaches. A must buy for any coach!!!

How did this book get such a high rating? It is the worst book I’ve ever read. The recipes don’t make sense. It is totally worthless.

If millet gruel and cottage cheese sausages appeal to you, buy this cookbook. If ingredients such as "mince" with instructions such as "prepare your own" which involves an unspecified dozen ingredients; "Dutch cheese" (as though Holland only has one kind of cheese); and "one pound of beef" (which cut of beef?), buy this cookbook. On the other hand, maybe this bare bones cookbook is suitable for creative cooks using a new kitchen appliance.

As I started looking through the recipes, I wondered what mince was. I also looked at some of the pork recipes and it just said 1 pound pork or 2.5 pounds pork, but what kind. The majority of ingredients cannot be had at my local grocery. This is not a recipe book that I will use. I’m ready to return it.

Not quite what I had in mind. Unusual recipes to say the least. Not proofread well, or possibly it was poor translator. Some wording just seems off.

I have never heard of half of the ingredients in this book. Wish it would have had a preview of a few of the recipes. No pictures. Wouldn't buy again!

Excellent cook book highly recommend for people who just purchased an Instant Pot! Very good book for people who are new to cooking in the instant pot.Very easy to use, works great, recipes are very helpful and taste great!

With so many really good instant pot cookbooks, don’t waste your money on this one. No pictures, bizarre recipes, seems amateur-ish!

This is not a legitimate cook book. It is poorly written, has incomplete directions, and a poor assortment of recipes. Do not buy it.

Dr. Leary doesn't disappoint! I purchased the audio version of this book in preparation for a trip to Vegas. I'm a big fan of audiobooks while crammed into a bus with wings eating pretzels and drinking shot size Coke. It takes my mind off the always "larger than me guy" who inevitably sits next to me that has personal hygiene issues. I looked around and of course, I was surrounded by college-aged small framed women. You could have fit two or three of those girls on one of these tiny seats. And, I'm guessing they smelt a hell of a lot better than jumbo who was sweating like a whore in church that was next to me Dr. Leary kept me entertained throughout the flights coming and going to Vegas. I'm glad I got the audio version because Dr. Leary narrated it. It drives me crazy when you buy an audiobook written by a star and they don't narrate their own work. It was like he was there. Suffering just like me in not so friendly skies. He did a great job of narration that kept me engaged in the book. I enjoyed his jabs at both parties. Dr. Leary doesn't pull any punches, and that is refreshing to me in this age of "political correctness." He also entertains with stories of other musicians and Hollywood types. Funny stuff indeed! I also enjoyed learning about his parents. Both of my folks are Irish immigrants, so I can relate.Being a big city cop for the last 23 years, I truly appreciated his recognition of Firefighters, Police, and Military. I hope you weren't taking a knee when you did that.Thanks for the laughs Dr. Leary! You made my trip to and from Sin City much more bearable. The rubber things on my earphones fell off and I was unable to retrieve them on the trip back. I toughed it out without the rubber things, it was worth the pain. Oh, by the way, I was only down $50.00. for the trip. Not too bad for being there for four days.Thanks again for the fun, entertaining and laugh out loud moments. Keep writing Dr. Leary!

VERY funny and insightful and painfully true all at the same time. I wish I had bought it on Audible so I could hear Denis Leary narrate the words, which I bet would have made it even funnier--but reading the book had me laughing out loud anyway. I might just download his narrated version anyway just for the hell of it. I didn't read his first book--yet--but now I will because we all need to laugh at ourselves and the state of American politics; Leary spares no one--Democrats and Republicans get blasted equally in these very entertaining and profane riffs on everything from politics, to the nature of fame, to the importance of staying grounded in family, friends and reality, and more.

I’m a sceptic when celebrities write books, but I always appreciated Denis Learys humor. Needless to say this book delivered tears, laughs and insightful narratives that I would have missed. Make America great again in my mind takes ALL of us to achieve... we are all so damn different in opinions, judgements, factions of life, etc....but we all bleed red. So, maybe just maybe we can all just have a bit more humor with one another.

This book has made me laugh out loud several times. Lots of wonderful self deprecating humor. He convinced me that we don’t suck.

This book is hysterical. Denis writes what we need to say. The world has changed. Listen to Doc Leary. Get your head on straight!

Pure Denis Leary fashion. So sarcastically funny it kept the pages turning! Need this comic relief to deal with the insanity going on in our country right now.

I have not finished this book yet but I am laughing through every page! The humor and writing does not disappoint. I may not agree with all of what he writes but he is entitled to his opinion and presents it in a convincing and extremely humorous way! Got to laugh yourself through life these days and this book helps that along. I highly recommend it!

Dr Leary's insane ability to mix satire with a healthy dose of Truth bombs makes this book absolutely GENIUS! We as Americans have forgotten how to laugh at ourselves! This book will remind you that Humilty, Humbleness and HUMANITY are forget virtues, all while giving a quick kick to the Funny bone! Live, Laugh, and Love thy Neighbor no matter what there political standpoint is!! BRAVO on another fine piece of literature!
