Looking at this book from 2017 its really showing it's age. The styles and ideas are all rooted thoroughly in the 1970's. For example, one plan is for a cardboard child seat for your car! The furniture is mostly built of cardboard and foam or other funky materials. There are lots of milk-carton light fixtures, it's all pretty sad. There are a couple of useful ideas in this book, but no more than that. One thing I did enjoy was that the puts names and creators to certain light fixtures and chairs that have since become ubiquitous. In most cases these examples (of expensive, imported, originals) are followed by a milk-carton version of the same thing.

In all seriousness, this book has two kinds of meta-levels that it operates on.On the surface, the designs are super retro and dated. The aesthetic is definitely in line with the minimalism and simple shapes that dominated the post-war sensibility.On a deeper level, though, the book is really about efficiency of construction and creating the most bang-for-buck when determining how to arrange your space, something that is not altogether common in our modern "finance the biggest and best" mindset.The best use for this would be by someone who could bring the philosophy in line with today's standards: designers, architects, and engineers, or even students of those fields. With today's CAD, CNC, and 3D printing capabilities, in the right hands, these concepts could yield a new generation of lightweight, efficient designs that turn our living places into truly universally adaptable spaces.

Fun stuff. If you haven't seen this book first-hand, it's worth the purchase. The handwritten "font" that the book is written in is over the top: kinda hard to scan/skim and not enough white space on the pages. But the furniture and living space designs are fun, and the book is very informative on designing load-bearing furniture. It'll definitely give you some new ideas about elegant/efficient design. It'll also make you say: My gosh, they've been doing this same type of furniture for how many years, now? (some of the "new" designs are old as the hills, it turns out.)

Quite a few years old! It does have the three patterns designs for which I've been searching. Very disappointed in the font - hard to read. Drawings are tough to decipher, but with the measurements given, anyone should be able to duplicate these. Would not buy again. The information is available through other medias for free.

I first met this book about 40 years ago, and it still holds me fascinated. Through the magic of eBay (and now Amazon) I have replaced my lost or worn-out copies once or twice, and I never tire of re-reading it and recommending it. My husband and I have followed the instructions and plans for many of the items in the book, and now that we're old empty-nesters, it's time to start over with the minimalist household furnishings. This is a gem that DIY people NEED!

My 22 year old has thanked me many times for sending her off to college with one of my favorites from the late 60's, early 70's, Nomadic Furniture. This is the one that tells you how to gather and build all those necessities for your home/dorm/room/place/crib from next to nothing. I sent her with this one and "Champagne Living on a Beer Budget".Nomadic Furniture is very practical, even though she lives a few miles from an IKEA. A lot of the ideas in this book ended up in the IKEA inventory. Get it and share it for a generation or two. Nothing like a little recession to bring out the value of this one.

Yes, the illustrations and text are all hand drawn (how cool is that!?) and the focus is not on HowTo with lots of instructions. Instead, this is an idea book, and does so successfully if you have a bit of imagination to run with the inspiration. I'm glad I have it.

I bought this book after reading a blurb in New York Magazine. The handwritten font is a bit hard to read, but I could get through it. I might not make anything from the book, but it inspires me.I like the measurements given in the book, and the idea of measuring your family before buying furniture like tables and chairs. Now I know that height of our dining room chairs are perfect for my husband.No wonder he LOVES those unslightly shabby chic junkers!

Although the Yankees get plenty of ink Bill Pennington has mined a nice little era where not much has been written but plenty happened. The stars of this book are Gene Michael the longtime Yankee player and exec who becomes general manager as Steinbrenner is headed to exile and Buck Showalter the young manager that nurtured the young talent that would go on to win 4 world series. The book starts in the period when George Steinbrenner had run the team into the ground with his short term thinking. Dallas Green boots Willie Randolph and they trade Rickey Henderson back to the A's for peanuts. Mattingly's back cannot withstand the torque and Dave Winfield is winning championships for other teams. The best players did not want to play for the Yankees. Greg Maddux and Barry Bonds both took less money to play elsewhere.Pennington gives you a story on each of the young players that would come to dominate. The circumstances to which Derek Jeter fell to number 6 in the amateur draft are detailed thoroughly. There is a funny story about how the Yankees hid Bernie Williams in Connecticut so that rival scouts could not see him. I didn't know that Jorge Posada was a second baseman they converted to catcher. And just as interesting is the tragedy of Brien Taylor, a flame-throwing left-hander that ruined his promise being injured in a fist fight.Then Pennington gives you the seasons 1991-1995 where the Yankees make steady improvement and and a few key trades. Roberto Kelly for Paul O'Neill. This is where Showalter comes to the forefront of the book. Buck wanted to change the culture of the Yankees. Better food, better facilities, better attitude and maybe most importantly, a better family environment where kids and wives were allowed in the clubhouse. So long Mel Hall and your rookie hazing.The biggest blessing for the franchise turns out to be Steinbrenner's banishment. He wasn't there to trade his young talent like Pettite, Posada, Mo, Jeter, and Bernie. They were allowed to develop and make mistakes and actually stick around. The number of times they could have been traded were numerous. The Yankees were just ready to stink for an entire decade, but Fay Vincent saved them.All and all Pennington has written an entertaining and informative book that was a breeze to read.

This 5-star rating is based on ONE recipe, so far! I made the Sloppy Joes Stuffed Peppers this evening and they were delicious. My husband agreed. I bought this cook book along with the Happy Hour and Cravable books and I'm impressed with the recipes and the general appearance of the books. I'm looking forward to making a few others this week. Thanks, Kyndra!New comments FOR KYNDRA (and all other authors of cookbooks, especially Keto followers): So far, using this particular cookbook, I've made two recipes which were delicious. That said, it would be extremely helpful to have an idea of what constitutes a serving. Is it one scoop, made with what size spoon? Is it 1/2 cup, one whole cup, etc. This would help those of us weighing and measuring our portions because we are following a Ketogenic program where all of the macros count. PLEASE tell your readers what portion size you've based your macros on -- if you could do it for the already-published books that would be great but I realize it might not be feasible. Soooo, for your future books, I am serious suggesting you do this. American portions are generally way too big; please help us out.

This is my second cook book from this author, and I love both of them!! One of the factors that keeps me coming back to use this cookbook is the pictures!! Pictures of every single recipe!! The directions are clear and easy to read and the pictures show you exactly what it supposed to look like!! So many of these recipes can also be used for my whole family (I’m the only one who is Keto) but my husband and daughter enjoy them also!

Another amazing book from Kyndra! I’m excited about this one as I need quick and easy recipes for the work week. The photos are gorgeous and the recipes offer different options from Craveable Keto, which I’ve been cooking from since it came out. I have not made a recipe from Kyndra that disappoints! Definitely get this book if you’re living a keto lifestyle.

Maybe it's not fair to give only three stars--the food I've made so far is wonderful. However, the reason I bought this cookbook was the "30 minute" wording in its title. I defy anyone to make these recipes in 30 minutes or less by themselves. Maybe if you have minions or sous chefs you could do it. So if you're reading this review, know that the author did indeed include mouthwatering low-carb recipes, but be prepared to spend way more than 30 minutes to prepare them.

Awesome recipes that the entire family will love! The recipes are feasible, quick, economical, and most of all…delicious! Coming from bread/potatoes world with autoimmune issues I have found this transition to easier than one would have expected with only positives coming out of it. Kyndra’s cookbooks are perfect for beginners to veterans of this lifestyle. I have presented to my family that Keto is not a diet; however a lifestyle change for us and honestly, I have been blessed even my son have been open.

Another great Keto cookbook by Kyndra Holley - she makes doing Keto easy and so tasty! If you haven't already, check out her Craveable Keto cookbook, too - very informative (if you want to learn about Keto, this is the book to have in your kitchen!). Every single recipe I’ve tried so far has been amazing! Can’t wait to keep cooking my way through the rest!

Not only are the recipes wonderful and very doable for the everyday ketoer, but there’s a lot of helpful tips and information as well. The photos are gorgeous and appealing. This cookbook is a must have for people who follow the ketogenic way of eating. And it’s even a good cookbook for people who don’t! My husband is hard to please with new recipes, but he has enjoyed every recipe I’ve made of Kyndra’s, both from this book and her blog. Kyndra is an invaluable leader in the ketogenic community and I’m so thankful for her sharing her creativeness and talents!!

I love this cookbook! There are easy to follow recipes with pictures and weekly menus and shopping lists that use leftovers. She has family favorites such as Salisbury steak. I’m super pleased with this and Kyndra Holley’s other cookbooks.

Meghan Quinn alternates her chapters with the three main characters -- Paisley, the girl you will love, Reese King, the man you will want to want, and Bellini, the snobby reality star you will hate.This story plays on your emotions from the get go. You feel excitement, hatred, anticipation, and definitely lust. The chemistry between Paisley and Reese is undeniable. Everybody sees it even though they think they are hiding it. Paisley does her best to keep her feelings professional since she is the personal assistant to Bellini and Reese.This is a must read. Grant you I bought this book because of the cover...Stuart Reardon. I soon found out that I would have missed out on a great read if I didn't get the book. I HIGHLY recommend this book!Reviewer's Note:Stuart Reardon was the perfect Reese King. Loved that character. Reese is a top BBF for me.

Man I freaking love Meghan Quinn. Her book, the Virgin Romance Novelist, is the funniest book I've ever read. So if it has her name on it I am all for it, which is why I picked up Stroked. I love a good sports story and other than Michael Phelps I know nothing of swimming other than they have hot bodies and eat a LOT so I was game. I knew that this was gonna be good when chapter one clearly stated that Buddy Chambers was a millionaire who was "well known for getting humped by a pig." Yup I was gonna laugh my tits offI found myself giggling, ready to slap the someone, offended often but swooning more the longer I read. Reese, our swim hero, ended up being amazing, even though my first impression of him wasn't a great one. The more I read the more I loved him. And nothing is sexier to a woman than a man who loves animals, so when he asked, "Want to play with some puppies?" I was instantly reminded why we girls love Nick Bateman and all the hot Instagram dudes that pose with their dogs. Immediate. Wet. Panties. Yup so be warned, ladies...Paisley was an awesome chick. Down to earth, witty, cute and fun, I really enjoyed reading from her POV (yeah this is written from both POVs with a third sprinkled in, the villain, who I get to in a sec). She set out to prove to her family and herself that she could make it doing something she loved in a town that typically swallowed people whole and she did just that. Although she had some bumps along the way, I loved the way she handled things even when they got tough. The way she and Reese were together made me love them as a couple and I am sure I will get more of them soon. Considering this is book 1 in the Stroked Series and the way each character was written, you can tell who will get their own book which means we haven't seen the last of #TeamReesly. WooHoo!Now onto the villain, Bellini. First, let me say I typically love the villains in stories. They tend to drive stories and make it easier for us to root for our hero/heroine, not this one. I wanted to slap her stupid face. She was rude, insulting and just plain stupid. She reminds me of all the reality tv b****es that I hate. So overall this was a great book, I loved it and give it 4.5 stars.

Stroked was a great fun read. I was expecting some laughs and boy did I gets laughs with this book. It's told in the POVs of Reese, Paisley, and a little of Bellini. Reese is a super sexy Olympic swimmer. He's getting ready to compete in his last Olympics. Bellini is a socialite that is famous because of her Dad. She has a completely crazy view on life. She's a bit annoying but I also found her character funny. For rating Reese and Bellini have a fake relationship. Paisley is a down to earth girl. She's super funny and doesn't take crap from anyone. I loved Paisley. She has is trying to climb the job ladder again after a major goof. Her roommate and best friend gets her a job as Reese and Bellini's assistant. Boy is there chemistry and sexual tension between Reese and Paisley. Paisley needs this job and a relationship with Reese would put her job in jeopardy but the pull between them may be to strong to resist. There are some super funny part and some super sexy parts. This is a great read that didn't disappoint.

The Mercy Thompson series has been one of my favorites since I picked up book 1 several years ago. It is always well written, the plots varied and full of twists. This latest incarnation is no different but the plots are becoming deeper, the interpersonal relationships are becoming more involved and add depth to these stories. I can tell you I read this book in 1 day, I could not put it down.As the synopsis indicates this book starts out with a rush of action in a battle with a troll which was awesome but it was just to setup a much more involved plot that takes us places we have never been before in this series and turns a few things we have believed in the last couple of books are now portrayed in a bit of a different light.We are fast approaching all-out war between humans, werewolves and the fae so in addition to everything else that has to be avoided at all costs so hang on tight, things are going to get rough.There is a bit of tragedy that makes me kinda sad. I can't say too much about the actual story because the action pretty much starts on page one so anything beyond that becomes a spoiler.Bottom Line: As always the writing, story and plot are exceptional. The characters are varied and rounded out, no cardboard cutouts in these books (it is still hard to keep up with so many of them). The pack bond relationships are brought out more in this book and a lot of the disharmony we have seen in the last few books will be resolved firmly. So enjoy a great book, I sure did 5 Stars easy and you will NOT be bored on any page

Fire Touched is the 9th book in Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson Series. I have been a long time reader of this series and Mercy is a character that always seems to come alive.Fire Touched was much more action filled than many of the previous books in the Mercy Thompson series and moved at a quick and steady pace, but I just kept thinking WTF? Fire Touched just did not seem to keep true to who I always felt Mercy was and IS. Character growth in Urban Fantasy is something that this genre does phenomenally well and yet I just feel like Mercy is losing her “stuff”. Mercy grew up with the freakin’ Marrok. The dang Alpha of Alphas..the master at werewolf politics, so why did Mercy continue to not understand (until it was drawn in kindergarten crayons) how her actions affected everyone else. This just didn’t fit at all. There is no way anyone could justify the level of ignorance Mercy displayed multiple times in Fire Touched.Briggs , as always, does a brilliant job at creating vividly haunting new creatures, unforgettable characters and epic moments. The deeper look inside of the fae innerworkings was a great element in this installment and added a lot to the overall story. I am so conflicted! Part of me loved the action and world and the other part is weeping for why my favorite bad-ass mechanic is suddenly acting like an idiot. And this entire ex-wife thing with Christie has to stop. BOUNDARIES, I would think Mr. Military britches would get it.As you can see, I am a little of two minds. My frustrations were high throughout Fire Touched, but this is still a world that could fill endless hours of conversations with fellow readers.I rate Fire Touched 3 out of 5 Bullets!I purchased this book (twice..technically) and also received this book directly from the publisher for the purpose of providing an honest review.

My Review:I adore this series and this story started out with a great scene...a giant troll on the bridge that brings the pack and Mercy into the very public spotlight as they work together to defeat the troll...and eventually become heroes for humankind. Who knew they would eventually end up here? Mercy, as usual, rocks...and I adore that Adam finally, finally stood up for her and how the pack is treating her. Gah...I hate the way they continue to treat her as an outsider when she's done so much for them. (I kind of love her.)This story brought about some interesting changes for the pack and Mercy and Adam's life. I have to say although I get it, I was shocked by Bran's actions. :( But Tad and Zee are back in this book and I love that. (This is a very fae-focused story...which isn't my favorite, but I liked how things are evolving.)There was also the change of an addition of a new character to Mercy and Adam's world. I love Aiden and how he pulls Jesse into the story more. I also giggled every time there was a new fire at the house. Those scenes made me giggle every time...including the one that makes it into the next book (shh, yes, I immediately read the next book after I read "the end" on this one...even though that review won't go up until the March release...but here's a spoiler for you...I give it an A+).I love this series and world. It just gets better and better. Love the Mercy Thompson world.

never thought I'd say this but, this book was just ok. good writing but this just wasn't like the Mercy Thompson books that I have come to love. It wasn't worth the 14dollars I paid for it. spoiler coming, I didn't like that Brian just dropped her like a hot potato and the death of the walking stick just wasn't right. Mercy was too politically correct to safe. it was like she was more of a supporting character in this book. I truly hate to say this because this is my favorite author and series. this was too short, it didn't feel like a full book. none of the usual characters showed up no coyote no Stefan. heck Mercy didn't even shapeshift. the ex wife didn't even need to show up in this book. there wasn't any deeping of the love between Adam and Mercy or their mate bond. Nothing exciting happen in this book it just left me feeling disappointed. This book left Mercy looking weak and alone. the thing Adam did with the pack should have been done a lone time ago, but the way the pack just was ok now Mercy is great now right after was just not believable. To put this to a close this book left me feeling sorry for Mercy something I never felt for before and didn't like, I will read the next one but if some of these thing are not fixed I will have to leave this series behind and that saddens me. Please Ms. Briggs bring the real Mercy back !

This was bought for our grandson who had recently become interested in geography and what was produced on which continent. This has peaked his interest and inspired him to further his knowledge. The pages are clear and crisp with detailed information on each page. The adults in the family are thoroughly enjoying it as well. It is of good quality and large enough to get a grasp of cities, topography, shorelines, rivers, and islands, with so much more to enjoy. I highly recommend this for anyone from age 10 - adult.

Beautiful, interesting. My 8 year old grandson loves it. He does have a question which I hope someone can answer: On page 15, under the title Present Day, the view of the continents shows Arabia as a continent, and does not show Australia. We know that the present day continents are Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Antarctica, Europe, and Australia. Can anyone please explain?

This is a great Atlas for kids and adults alike. It is very clear and contains engaging content. My 7.5 year old admitted, "at first I thought it was just a boring book, but its really neat." Both my kids enjoyed quizzing other adults on facts they learned from it.

Not as much information as I was hoping for on each page. The pictures are great. Bright colors. Details that are included are accurate.I would say you may want this as a companion to individual continent books. We used this book to see the Nile River. It is there,but we still needed more library resources.

Children's books are awesome for gaining a quick overview of any subject. This atlas, its pictorials, is superb. I could not recommend it more hightly.

I bought this for my grandsons but I found it so educational for world travel knowledge and such a beautiful format we kept it for ourselves! We're buying a 2nd one for them.

Don't like the size

This coloring book made me laugh so hard!! It's not for everyone though. I must be getting old because some of the phrases were so bad that I wouldn't even say them...none the less, very funny!

Purchased as a gift for a co-worker. It was a huge hit! Since most of the people I work with have potty mouths and an eye for color this was a no brainer!

This is a great gift but not for those who may be easily offended. Definitely adult content.
