Another installment of the Blood on the Stars read - I promised myself I would read as slowly as possible just to spin it out a bit....sigh...that didn't work and now I'm left wanting desperately to read the next book in the series. Once I started Nightfall I just couldn't stop reading (except to grab a few zzz's and go to work), I had to know what happened next. Darn it, Jay, you've really yanked me into this story big time with your supurb plot-lines, action and characters (both good and bad) and now I can't get enough of this brilliant series. Nightfall was a great title for this installment as the Confederation faces the reality that they may not win the war against the more powerful Hegemony. Even Tyler is struggling to find hope, but he will give everything he's got to make the Hegemony pay a high price for invading the Confederation even if it means he has to fight side by side with former enemies. With it's massive battles, dog-fights and action, Nightfall is an excellent installment in the Blood on the Stars series; looking forward to the next book in the series with great anticipation :)

I am a fan of military Sci-Fi and I have read all of this series and most of the books written by Jay Allan. This book is simply one of the best sci-fi books I have ever read. It features battles on land and in space. It contains advanced technology and concepts to add interest into the story. And it contains excellent strategy that makes the story great! The characters in the book I have come to know throughout the entire series and I root for them to fight with all of their skills to win the war against the Hegemony. Jay Allan has topped his previous efforts and put together a story that I just had to finish.I now have already purchased the next book and that is my next task. To read how this saga continues. I will not ruin the story for you but I will say that I loved the book and I can’t wait to continue with the next book in the series.Jay Allan has become one of the best Sci-Fi authors that I have read and I have read over 1000 Sci-Fi and Horror books in my life. I highly recommend this book as I believe you will enjoy reading it.

Although I enjoyed reading this book as well as all the other books in the series, I think three pages of introspective thoughts before each character does anything is a little bit too much... still an excellent read, as are all the previous books.

Before you start this one, please note it is the tenth book a series: if you haven’t read the previous books in order, the characters and situations will not make much sense to you.I liked this one although, without having a spoiler, I will say some of the battle scenes made me want to say “bull.” It ends with the usual ending with a bit of a “to be continued” that makes you want to start reading the next one of the series. I picked this up for $2.99 in the Kindle store and certainly received more than $2.99 worth of entertainment value out of it. If you have enjoyed the Blood on the Stars series I imagine you will like this one, also.

While there were times when I had to just skim due to headspeak, I was mostly on the edge of my seat. As always great battles but so much loss of life! Poor Tyler Andi Tulus Nygen Jake Timmons Stara Astara and all the Confeds and the Alliance and even Denisov with the depressing probability that the Hedgmony would turn them all into slaves! I am still waiting for Caramelita to discover that all the humans of the Rim are MASTERS. That would put a damper on their ideology! I cannot wait for The Grand Alliance! And I hope the Others come back to give some Karma to the Hedgmony home world.

Megarra is up next on the chopping block. How can Tyler Barron and the brave spacers with him possibly hold the enemy back? What will happen to the Union fleet when it makes contact? A lot of these questions get answered throughout the fighting that rages on the ground and in the skies above the Capital. One thing holds true, Barron and his veterans will stop at Nothing to try and save their people and with them the entire Rim from the genetic tyranny that has been unleashed.

If you haven't picked up the Blood on the Stars series by this great author, you are missing out. I try to read slowly as another reviewer stated because I enjoy Jay Allan's books so very much, but once you start, there you are a 2 AM in bed still reading. Just another great action story by one of my go-to authors. I think I have bought everything that Jay Allan has written and I plan for that to continue. I can't wait for the follow-up to book 10.

I've enjoyed the entire series. Normally, I would have given this five stars, however grammatical errors and typos continue to be an issue. I'm not sure if the editing is any better than the last book, however it definitely seems worse than the beginning of the series.Last book I remember Olya being referred to as Stara in one passage; this time she got referred to as Anya. Olya just can't get any respect.
