I am a beginner, and tho I am now certified to be in a local program, I found a whole lot of info in this booklet that "filled in the blanks" and made a whole lot of what I learned from my class more understandable. This booklet is always listed in our Gem and Mineral societies monthly newsletter.
LOVE this book! It will save you a lot of money by helping you avoid duplication of tools and equipment as well as valuable shortcuts on doing a project and having it come out wonderful with less work. Mr. Smith has years of experience as a jewelerand is suggestions are right on every time. You will save the money it cost dozens of times over. Thank you Bradford Smith for a small but powerful volume of knowledge.
This book is very useful for jewelers, with time and money-saving tips. There is a lot of good thinking outside the box in this book: ways of obtaining supplies inexpensively, ways to build tools, cheap or free storage solutions.It's an all-purpose reference, some quite technical, which will make a jeweler's life easier. Give a forever home at your bench!

...that helped me. Most tips I already learned either in class or reading on the net (which probably originally came from the book, chuckle). The book is old. It was helpful with a few tips and for this reason I think it was worth the purchase.
